About Kirsten

Inspired by a book in progress written by Kirsten Horgan McLain, this blog is a comical mix of optimistic notes on pessimistic comments from a mom’s daily life with her family. A supportive message to all moms who go through the same daily struggles and give a glimpse of humor in the stresses that can be part of our day. This site is where I will be posting exerpts from "On The Bright Side - Optiminsm From A Pessimistic Mom" (OTBS) as well as other short stories, books and poems I have written for mothers, parents and children.

In addition, I've been finding the bright side to my family's health issues and life in general. So, as a family God has led us to focus our efforts on homeschooling and health through the natural resources He has provided us including diet and essential oils. Therefore included in this blog are things about homeschooling, whole food diets as well as essential oils. It's all here, the bright side of mommying. I hope you enjoy!

About Me:

Much has led me to where I am today. The short story "bio" is:

I am a Greenwich High School Alumni (Go Big Red!), and I graduated from the University of Denver (Go Pioneers!) in 1994 with a BFA in Studio Art with a minor in business. I was an Art and Marketing Director for two investment companies in Connecticut, where my job consisted of a multitude of tasks including creating, designing, and writing marketing material, sales tools, newsletters, training materials, and more.

In 2002 I moved to Wilmington, North Carolina to help run our family pottery studio. In addition to utilizing my artistic skills and background, creating all our marketing materials, teaching classes and camps, I also wrote monthly newsletters and copy for advertisements, press releases, and articles.

I am now a wife and mother of two and have been inspired by my husband and two sons to start writing stories of both whimsy and relevance.

My journey has also led me to be a distributor for both Young Living Essential Oil and Juice Plus.
